Silver Sands Community

Tropical Storm Information Center

Tropical Storm DEBBY is in the Gulf of Mexico, so we have (temporarily) replaced our Home page with this Tropical Storm information page, to provide Silver Sands owners all over the world with a quick source of information on what is going on here on St. Pete Beach, and Silver Sands Beach and Racquet Club specifically.  Additional information from owners will typically be found within the Master Association Forum.  Anytime tropical storms or hurricanes are dominating the local weather, we will provide this service.

For the past several days, Debby’s feeder bands have been driving heavy rains, flooding, and tropical storm-force winds (around 45 mph sustained) in the St. Pete Beach community.  The storm is moving slowly, and predictions for its future motion have been unusually divergent, but, at this point, it is expected to move inland Wednesday or Thursday.  There has NOT been any significant damage to any apartments at Silver Sands of which we are aware, but a significant amount of beach sand has been lost.  Pass-A-Grille, the community on the southern third of the island, was hit Sunday night by a tornado / water spout, which damaged the Pass-A-Grille Marina, and several houses.  Significant parts of St. Pete Beach lost power and cable service, although Silver Sands was not among them.
